Andrew Cadima is an artist based out of Northern California working primarily in oils. Having lived as a composer for most of his life, he now obsessively paints everything around him.
After attending the San Francisco Conservatory of music and working professionally for several years, performing and writing for ensembles all over the world, a seemingly sudden and random urge called Andrew to paint. He began to spend his nights painting alone, locked away, quickly honing his skills. Since, he has become a widely known figure in the art world, a teacher to many, and has exhibited works in prestigious galleries and collections internationally.
Although his body of work is varied in terms of subject, he has always placed a strong emphasis on still-life and portraiture. Capturing a wide variety emotion, both subtle and extreme, through the contorting features of the face, has been a primary focus of his portrait work. Whatever it is that he paints, it is always filtered through a unique view of realism. His art is often a blend of representational and imagined, drawing inspiration from the real world, but continually subverting our expectations of what we may find there.
