Allinpanel™ Lead Primed Linen
Q1: What makes the Allinpanel™ Lead Primed Linen different from a standard stretched canvas?
The Allinpanel™ is built from 100% linen canvas, lead oil-primed and adhered with BEVA 371 film to a two-sided aluminum composite panel (two aluminum sheets laminated to a black polyethylene core). Unlike a stretched canvas, there's no wooden stretcher bars to warp, no fabric to sag over time, and no bounce under the brush—you get the beauty and tooth of real linen backed by a completely rigid, dimensionally stable support.
Q2: What linen weave options are available, and which one should I choose?
This panel comes in three plain-weave linen textures: Medium Weave (531), Fine Weave (533), and Extra Fine Weave (532). Medium weave offers a more traditional, textured tooth great for expressive brushwork, Fine weave strikes a balance for general painting, and Extra Fine weave gives the smoothest surface, ideal for portraiture and highly detailed work.
Q3: Why is Rublev lead oil priming used on this linen, and what does it do for my paint?
Artefex primes its linen in Italy for a smooth, absorbent base, then re-primes it in California with Rublev Lead Alkyd Ground. This double-priming process creates a surface that holds oil paint beautifully without letting it sink in, enhancing the brightness and vibrancy of your colors while giving you a dependable, consistent glide for fluent brushstrokes.
Q4: What panel backing options can I choose for my Allinpanel, and how do they differ?
You can select from three aluminum composite backings: 3MM for a lightweight, economical standard support; 6MM HoneyComb, which adds an aluminum honeycomb core for extra rigidity on larger sizes; and the Gallery Panel, which gives your artwork a thicker, gallery-wrapped profile ready to hang without a frame. All three keep the panel warp-proof and stable for the life of your painting.
Q5: Is this panel safe to use, and what sizes are available?
The Allinpanel™ Lead Primed Linen is available in sizes ranging from 5x7" up to 20x24", with custom sizes available on request. Because it uses a lead-based priming compound, this product carries a California Proposition 65 warning: it contains chemicals known to the state to cause cancer and reproductive harm. Artists should avoid inhaling dust or fumes and wash hands thoroughly after handling.
