The 538 Allinpanel features professional 100% linen canvas that is oil-primed in Italy [1]. No. Traditional canvas boards often suffer from bubbling or peeling because they use cheap adhesives that react to the atmosphere. Artefex permanently bonds the 100% linen canvas to the aluminum composite panel using a specialized, conservator-approved BEVA 371 film [1, 10]. This ensures a uniform, secure, and flat bond across the entire panel that resists aging and environmental wear [1, 10].
Q4: Can I paint on this panel with acrylics or water-mixable oils?
No, this panel is specifically designed for oil painting [1]. Because the 538 linen features an Italian oil-based primer, it initially repels water-based mediums. If you work with acrylics, water-mixable oils, or tempera, you should choose our Acrylic-Primed Allinpanels (such as the Extra Fine 574) or our universally primed Tempanel (450) [13-15].
Q5: Does this 20x24" panel require framing for presentation?
Yes, this panel is designed to be framed. Because the raw, dark composite edges of the 3mm ACM substrate are not finished for raw display, artists typically place these panels in standard frames for gallery presentation [16, 17].
