Todd M. Casey – Narrative Still Life | Classical Style and Progressive Mastery

Todd M. Casey is a distinguished artist, celebrated educator, and the bestselling author of The Art of Still Life and The Oil Painters’ Color Handbook (Monacelli/Phaidon Press). Raised in Lowell, Massachusetts, and currently teaching at the Lyme Academy of Fine Art, Todd has built a career that bridges the gap between historic oil traditions and modern painting methodology. His work goes far beyond simple realism; it is classically styled but progressive in approach. Every composition is brewed from a deep well of introspective thought, designed to tell an evocative story through carefully selected objects, light, and color harmony.

The Science of Color and Texture: Why Todd M. Casey Chooses the 530 Allinpanel

Todd utilizes the Artefex 530 Allinpanel™ Primed Acrylic Medium Linen to ensure his meticulous arrangements remain permanent. This structural choice satisfies the essential motivators of Peace of Mind and Professional Excellence. The 530 Medium Linen offers a traditional fabric weave with a distinct, balanced tooth that allows for crisp, defined edge control and beautiful paint traction. By mounting this premium canvas to a rigid 3mm Aluminum Composite Material (ACM) core, the Allinpanel completely eliminates the flexing, expanding, and contracting inherent to wooden stretchers. The specialized acrylic priming provides a uniform, non-absorbent ground that locks in the brilliance of his color handbooks, ensuring that his deep, introspective narratives are preserved on a flat, climate-proof support for centuries.
