Why I use them: I love these panels because they always arrive in perfect condition (no bubbles or warping, which other commercially prepared linen panels sometimes have), and they are the perfect texture for my working style. I love that they are slick enough to push the paint around, but still have enough tooth to build up layers of paint fairly quickly. To be honest, I’ve never done a bad painting on one of these panels!

Rublev Colours Lead Alkyd Ground is a blend of white pigments in alkyd for a semi-absorbent ground ideal for oil and alkyd painting. Formulated for priming non-absorbent rigid supports like ACM or copper. Suitable for absorbent rigid supports like solid wood, hardboard, or canvas mounted on rigid supports. Best for rigid supports. Rublev Lead Alkyd Ground typically dries within eight hours.
Lead Oil Primed 100% Linen Canvas
Artefex crafts its lead oil-primed panels with 100% linen canvas, primed in Italy to provide a smooth, absorbent surface perfect for oil painters. Then re-primed in California with the Rublev Lead Alkyd Ground. The canvas is treated with multiple layers of animal collagen glue and lead oil priming compounds, ensuring optimal paint adhesion and color vibrancy. This meticulous priming process heightens the brightness and tone of your oil paints, allowing for fluent and well-defined brushstrokes.

We use 3mm thick ACM panels to provide the most durable, rigid, and long-lasting support for your art. ACM panels do not react to relative humidity and other environmental changes, providing a very stable support for artwork. For larger sizes up to 5ft by 10ft we use a 6mm thick Gridpanel.
Finally we inspect and stamp every panel before sending it to you. This stamp represents an insurance policy not just for artists but for collectors. Your artwork is safe on an Artefex panel for generations.
